EVENING SNACKS IN CHITTOOR: A TALE OF A GRANDMOTHER AND HER GRANDDAUGHTER
July 25, 2026
Cafes are places where people from different generations bond. Here is one such story of a grandmother and her granddaughter.
“And when Kunti asked Panchali to prepare food for her five husbands with the small amount of dough, she prepared five small pieces of Puri and stuffed it with potato. This is a popular story of what is now called Pani Puri.”
The small girl gave a shocked look, “Ohhh! Is it so grandma?”
“Yes my dear girl.”
The waiter placed a plate of Pani Puri on the table.
“Come on, now eat your favourite Pani Puri.”
The small girl took a Puri… Dipped it in the spicy mint Pani and had a bite.
Her grandmother was happily watching her enjoy the Pani Puri.
With a whole Puri in her mouth, struggling to talk, the girl asked her Grandmother,
“Grandma, is there any other story that you know?”
“Oh yes, Shall I tell you how Bheema from Mahabharata was so fond of Laddoos?”
“Oh yes Grandma! But before that could you get me some Laddoos too…please…”
“Sure my dear girl!”
The grandmother called the waiter.
“Get me three Laddoos, two Kala Jamuns and Two Rasagullas.”
“Is it for you Grandma?”
“No dear. Everything is for you my girl.”
“Oh grandma, how will I have all of them?”
“For each sweet you eat, I’ll tell you one story, deal?”
“Oh yes!”
And that’s how the wisdom of stories passed from one generation to the other over a plate of sweets.
Come to Honey Bee House to share stories over a plate of goodness!
