RED VELVET CAKE IN CHITTOOR: A TALE OF TWO STRANGERS

Cafes are places where different people and different lives meet. Here is one such story of two strangers who loved the same food, but for very different reasons.
“Hey… Is this seat reserved for anyone?” A tall middle-aged man asked a boy in his twenties, pointing at the empty chair at a table for two.
“No… No… You may have a seat,” Replied the boy.
The man had an enthusiastic energy while the boy seemed to be lost in his thoughts.
The waiter came and asked for the order.
“A piece of Red Velvet Cake please.” Both of them answered at the same time.
The waiter took the order and left. They looked at each other.
“Big fan of Red Velvet Cake, huh?” asked the man.
“Oh yeah, I usually have it when I feel low…” replied the boy.
“Oh I am just the opposite! I usually have it whenever something good happens to me.”
“That’s nice…”
The waiter served two slices of Red Velvet Cakes on the table.
Both of them picked up their spoons and started to eat.
They ate in silence.
The man finished his cake, took a tissue paper, wiped his lips and got up.
Before leaving, he looked at the boy who was pecking at his cake.
“Hey boy. Things will get better.”
The boy smiled back. “Congrats to you on your good day, sir.”
The man gave a smile and left.
The boy had the rest of his cake with a slight smile on his face.
He got up, paid his bill and left the place.
